An overview of an earlier sociology monograph on small business, livelihoods and poverty in Bogura City, Bangladesh.

About the monograph

“Role of Small Business in Alleviating Poverty in Bogura City” is the title of my earlier university monograph in sociology. It connects my interest in inequality with questions about work, livelihoods and everyday economic life in the place I come from.

This page provides a brief description of the topic. The original manuscript, methods and findings are not reproduced here, so this overview should not be read as a published research paper or a summary of verified results.

Why the topic matters to my interests

Small businesses offer a useful starting point for asking how people organise work and respond to economic constraints. A sociological perspective also asks about the wider context: access to resources, family responsibilities, relationships and the institutions that shape opportunity.

These questions continue to inform my interest in social inequality. They connect individual experiences with the structures within which people make decisions.

From an earlier project to future learning

Looking back at a university project can be a way of developing as a researcher. It raises questions about how a research problem is framed, how evidence is gathered and how carefully a conclusion follows from the material available.

A future version of this page could include the manuscript or an approved abstract. Until that material is available, this page records the title and subject of the work without adding findings, publication details or claims of peer review.
